About Kim

I began my career as a field geologist, tackling a range of tasks from dirt-bagging to overseeing drill programs in remote camps across northern Canada. After completing my Applied Masters in Mineral Exploration at Queen's University, I dedicated several years to mineral assessment work for Yukon First Nations, as well as staking and optioning exploration properties.

Driven by my fascination with negotiation, I pursued additional education at the Harvard Negotiation Project and BC Justice Institute. This led to an exhilarating role as a Federal Land Claims negotiator in the Yukon, coinciding with the completion of the Umbrella Final Agreement and the signing of the first four Final Agreements. I served as a Yukon Water Board Member and Chair of the Yukon Land Use Planning Council.

My passion for storytelling was ignited when I studied writing for film and television at Vancouver Film School. This transformative experience introduced me to the captivating world of story archetypes, setting the foundation for my book, ‘The Virgin's Promise’. I'm humbled and grateful to see this book resonate with readers across the globe, as it has been translated into Italian and Japanese.

Beyond writing, I have had the opportunity to give workshops at Raindance London, David Lynch Film School, StoryAcedemy on Gotland Island, Sweden, Hollyhock Retreat, and others where I delve into the art of storytelling and introduce new leadership ideas. Additionally, I've had the privilege of speaking about my books in Australia, Sweden, the United States, and Canada.

As a fellow at Simon Fraser University, I've been involved in research, workshop development, and facilitation for the 2 Ways of Knowing Project, where I've found intriguing overlaps between my storytelling work and the 2 Ways of Knowing initiative(2WK).

My life revolves around two incredible places—Whitehorse and Vancouver—where I am fortunate to share my journey with my two daughters, and two grandchildren who proudly belong to Champagne and Aishihik First Nations.
